Hidden Maverick began in a garden, long before it became a brand, with a mother who encouraged curiosity and a son who turned it into craft.

Mona’s life has always been rooted in creativity. As an artist, and later through property, architecture, design and business, she spent more than thirty years taking ideas and giving them form.

Mona and Jake shared a life close to nature. In Provence, France, they lived among plants, gardens and a way of living that valued making things and understanding where they came from. Mona created the environment in which curiosity was encouraged. Jake carried that curiosity into experimentation, working with plants, ingredients and, eventually, skincare.

When Jake made his first moisturiser, Mona was the first to use it, to recognise that it could become something more enduring. She encouraged the process without rushing it.

Over the next six years, Jake researched ingredients, tested and developed the formulations and removed anything unnecessary. Mona lived with the products as they evolved, using them daily and helping to shape the standards and philosophy around them: prevention over correction, quality over excess and consistency over complication.

What started as one young boy’s curiosity became a shared vision for a different kind of company.
