Hidden Maverick moisturiser application guide

How to Adjust a Simple Skincare Routine for Your Skin Type

Skin type is useful. It is not a command to buy a different shelf.

Normal, dry, oily and combination skin often need the same basic routine: gentle cleansing, moisturising and appropriate daytime sun protection. What changes is the texture, amount and placement of the products—not necessarily the number of steps.

Hidden Maverick's Day and Evening Moisturisers are designed for normal, dry, oily and combination skin. That does not mean every individual will respond identically. It means the routine can be adjusted without becoming a different routine.

The foundation for every skin type

In the morning, cleanse gently or rinse according to what your skin needs. Apply a small amount of moisturiser to slightly damp or freshly cleansed skin. Let it absorb, then apply suitable sun protection when required.

In the evening, cleanse and moisturise again. If you use a richer night cream, begin with a thin layer and add only where needed.

That is the architecture. The adjustments follow.

Normal skin

Normal skin generally feels balanced—not persistently tight, oily or uncomfortable. The task is maintenance.

Use the recommended amount, observe how the skin feels through the day and resist solving problems that do not exist. A lightweight daytime cream and a modest amount of evening moisturiser may be all you need.

Normal skin can still change with the season, travel, stress and age. Adjustment is not failure; it is attention.

Dry skin

Dry skin may feel tight, rough or less comfortable after cleansing. Use a mild cleanser, avoid very hot water and apply moisturiser before the skin has fully dried.

With Hidden Maverick, start with the Day cream and build a second light layer on drier areas if necessary. In the evening, the richer formula may feel more appropriate across the whole face. Pay particular attention to the cheeks and around the mouth, where dryness is often more noticeable.

If dryness is persistent, cracked, inflamed or itchy, seek professional advice rather than continually adding cosmetic products.

Oily skin

Oily skin still needs moisture. Removing every trace of oil with aggressive cleansing can leave the skin uncomfortable and may make the routine harder to manage.

Use a gentle cleanser and begin with a smaller amount of moisturiser—perhaps half the quantity you would use on dry skin. Apply it evenly, allow it to settle and increase only if the skin feels tight.

The Hidden Maverick Day Moisturiser has a light skin feel despite its botanical oils. For the Evening cream, use a thinner layer and judge the result the following morning.

Combination skin

Combination skin is not inconsistent; it simply has different needs in different areas.

Apply a light layer across the face. Add a little more to dry cheeks or around the mouth, and keep the T-zone lighter if it becomes oily. You do not need two completely separate routines. You need placement.

This is where an adaptable cream is more useful than a rigid instruction.

Sensitive or reactive skin

Sensitivity is not one of the four basic skin types and can occur alongside any of them. Botanical and fragranced ingredients can cause reactions in some people. Read the complete ingredient list, patch test before first use and stop if irritation occurs.

If you have a diagnosed condition such as eczema, rosacea or acne, follow advice suited to that condition. A general moisturising guide is not a treatment plan.

One formula, adjusted intelligently

The point of a simple routine is not to behave as though all skin is identical. It is to remove unnecessary categories while keeping enough flexibility to respond.

Less for oily areas. More for dry areas. A lighter formula in the morning. A richer one at night if it feels better. The same two Hidden Maverick jars can be used with different amounts across changing skin and changing seasons.

That is not universal skincare by slogan. It is a universal principle: begin simply, observe carefully and add only what earns its place.

Quick answers

Does oily skin need moisturiser? Often, yes. Choose a comfortable texture and begin with a small amount.

Can combination skin use one moisturiser?

Yes. Apply less to oilier areas and more where the skin feels dry.

How do I know my skin type?

Observe how clean, product-free skin feels over several hours. Persistent tightness suggests dryness; shine suggests oiliness; a mixture suggests combination skin. A dermatologist can help where symptoms are unclear or troublesome.
